I did a search in the Mormon Pionner database and it does not look like he ever migrated to Utah betweem 1847 and the date of this death in 1852. So since he wasn't a "Early Mormon Leader" or a "Mormon Pioneer" then I don't have a project that he fits in.
I like a good mystery... I did some more digging and found his gravestone picture on findagrave: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=pv&GRid=58512347&...
Here is his memorial page:
This should be enough info for me to send a request to the research historians to update the Mormon Pioneer database with their info. They have really quick turn around time and usually do updates the same day that the requests are provided.
Thanks, Randy. I really appreciate your attention to this. I'm not even related, I'm helping someone else, so I didn't have much info to go on. My source quotes Hosea Stout but with no links for me to cross-check.
I am going to add you as a manager to this profile, since you are doing the research on it.
I'm not related either.
...But I found the family in the 1850 Federal Census living in Utah and I also found a record of their Illinois marriage. Note the 1850 census indicates "Jersey" as his birthplace and not "Ohio". I uploaded his grave marker as his profile picture.
I've updated his profile with all the info I found.
The Warthen family has now been added to the Mormon Pioneer database based on the research that you and I turned up.
