Can anyone tell me how I can add stepchildren? I can't seem to figure it out.

Add the children from the biological parent on the tree.

And to clarify you must have both parents on the tree for Geni to ask which parents are the correct set to place the child under.

So I take it if for exaple your son marries a divorcee with children you cannot add those children without adding their father, whom you do not know and have no desire to have on your family tree. Is this correct?

True. However, I could add the divorcee ex-husband (the children's biological father) as a nameless profile.

You could also add the Ex, add the children and then delete the ex.

However: In respect of the children you should keep the profile of their biological father. As long the connection is marked as an ex to the mother the profile will not be visible when having the focus on her or her family's profiles.

You should also respect it if the children or his family want to build the tree on his profile.

Strange but if I add the ex, my stepson that lives with us disappears in my profile and is only visible in his mother's side of the tree.

Step children and foster children are really not realised well enough in Geni yet.

I don't quite know what has happened in your case, but i think that maybe your stepson was linked not to you, but to some relationship, and once you've changed it (but adding your ex) that relationship got distorted...
