This thread covers requests to curators to merge public profiles of individuals under the Families of the Philippines project. Fully merged public profiles are then good candidates to become Master Profiles.

Done, - great job, - I am however skeptical to the lifetime of those short-links using - Do you know how long time they are valid?

You know that you can hide long URL's in the About Me on profiles using this syntax: [URL Text to display]

Instead of you could write: Wikipedia [ Emmanuel Pelaez]

I modified the Emmanuel Neri Pelaez profile as an example.

Hej, Private User. Thanks for the help!

On the link lifetime, I asked the's site admin about that and they maintain that the links are unique and not reusable. They also have an archive function which keeps the links until I junk them. I understand your concern -- they maintain that not all url shorteners have that capability. I have been using on my other sites for some time. The oldest ones are about three years old and the links are still valid.

I have used that function you illustrated (replicating the html href command) for all of the project pages I collaborate on. For the profile descriptions though, I was looking for a function that could summarize multiple links, which would serve as a shortened bibliography.'s bundle function does that quite nicely. The Manuel Pelaez' profile is not a good example; as it only links out to Wikipedia. [Antonio Somoza Arnaiz Antonio Arnaiz] illustrates my point better. As I maintain multiple sites, this also helps me minimize updating the bibliography in multiple places. :)

Still, let me know if you see another problem with this approach and I would be glad to tweak my process. :)

Dear Erica Howton, Private User, Private User. Could you help merge the following public profiles on Maria Rosario Roxas please? Thanks!

Private User

Done, Miss. Mona!

Would you like for me to merge up the multiple Vicentes, as well?

Also, in settling the data conflicts from Maria Rosario's profile, I selected your data. Would you mind just giving it a once over for accuracy?

Thanks, Private User! I just reviewed the name details and all's well. Kindly merge her husband's multiple profiles also. :)

Antonio is now an MP.

I love reading these. What wonderful symbolism in renaming the road in his honor.

Thanks for the help, Jenna! It has been great reading up on people who have left their mark in the world through my genealogy obsession. I've learned soo much. :)

HI, Private User, I am working on the genealogy of the Manila Carnival Queens and I came across your public profile of Teodoro Santos and family. Their son, Ernesto (also called Gatas) was a consort to Guia Balmori, the Queen of the 1938 Miss Philippines. Would you be okay with the merging of the following?

You can find the project here: Thanks in advance!

Hi, Floyd Brian Russak! We manage duplicate profiles of George Hendrick Fairchild, an American who is considered a pioneer of the sugar industry in the Philippines. His kids were detained in Manila during WWII. I wanted to ask for your okay before I merge these two PUBLIC profiles. 'Looking forward to your prompt reply! Thanks!

Hi, Floyd Brian Russak. We have duplicate profiles of George Hendrick Fairchild and his family. George and his family were prominent in the 1900s, during the American occupation of the Philippines. They are the subject of many scholarly studies on the Philippine sugar and publishing industries and the Japanese occupation of Manila in WWII. His family was encamped with other American expatriates in Santo Tomas.

I would like to ask for your okay to merge the following profiles. You have more data on George's ascendants; while I have more data on his descendants. His daughter was the subject of one of my projects.

In a week, I will ask a curator to complete the merge; so I hope you can send me a note before then.
