Sarah Price Williams, Daneil's mother, claimed black, white, and Indian ancestry. Her mother was a slave in Maryland who had lived on the same plantation as orator and abolitionist FrederickDouglass.

Sara Price Williams' mother was a cousin to Frederick Douglass.
