Through my Legacy Family tree I am getting interested in DNA testing and Linking it.
Is there any Saffas who has done it here with Geni/Legacy or FTDNA??

Where will it be best to look for local DNA Testing and what is the cost.

I'm also interested to know about answers you get to this, Willem. SA Popular Mechanics wrote an article on it recently - but I think you still had to send away to America to have it done.

I have done my genealogical DNA with http://www.familytreedna.com/
If enough SA people have it done, we could solve many riddles. For example: who was the biological father of Jacobus Steyn, the 'voorzoon' of Maria Lozee. He was adopted by the Douwe Gerbrandt Steyn SV/PROG and is the biological progenitor of the tree. At the same time I am trying to find descendants of the legal progenitor, Douwe Gerbrandt Steyn, in Friesland to motivate them to take the test too. If their and my DNA have an exact match, we have some very interesting developments...

Love this - and have mentioned it in the Blog Discussion thread http://www.geni.com/discussions/98248?msg=725593&page=1 I'm trying to get going so we South Africans on Geni can talk to each other a bit easier. Chris Steyn maybe you could write us a paragraph there telling us about how you went about it and seeing if by doing that we can entice other South Africans to have it done.
