DNA testing at FTDNA laboratories has revealed that Elisabeth Fafard was of haplogroup H10E (mtDNA). This was determined by maternal-line descendants of Elisabeth Fafard being tested. The results has been confirmed independently with three different testees at FTDNA.
What might be of interest is that recent research by Prof. Lucotte has shown that the French national hero Pierre Terrail, Seigneur de Bayard (the famous knight without fear or reproach) shared the same haplogroup (HVR1 & HVR2 match). Therefore it is plausible that Elisabeth Fafard and Chevalier Bayard may be related on the maternal line.
