About Shulamit Halkin
Shulamit married Avraham Helkin. They had two children; Miryam (Hoch, mother of Adina, Eitan and Sharon) and Hillel (married Marsha nee Bender and had daughters; Talia and Michal.
Professor Halkin dedicates this work to his beloved wife, Shulamit,
who passed away on Tevet 13 (January 8), 1982. It is our tragic loss
that Shulamit Halkin, who followed the development of the book up
to its last stages, was denied the chance of seeing it appear in print.
May her memory be a blessing to Israel. My hope is that Professor
Halkin will continue to be blessed with strength and creativity for
many years to come. His painstaking scholarship and concern for
clarity will contribute to making Maimonides' epistles meaningful to
all concerned with fully appreciating the leading Jewish philosopher
of all times.
