Served as major in Chamber's regiment of Pennsylvania Line.
A Surgeon of the Revolution, practiced with great repute.
Served with distinction at the Battle of Brandywine; First Lieut. in 1st Penna. Reg. afterwards until close of war as a surgeon of Continental Army, was a member and founder of "Society of Cincinnati"
28 January 1803 he married Maria Barker, daughter of Joseph Barker and Mary Collins of Delaware.
He died in Wilimington, Delaware 15 May 1829, aged 69 years and is buried in the Old Swedes Churchyard.
