About 2nd Lt. Henry Earlam Johnson

Aged 26, Henry enlisted in the King's Royal Rifles after returning from Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) where he had been working as a tea planter.

He had only recently returned to the front after a short visit on leave to see his mother, when he was killed. He was the eldest son and the first to die.

Henry is buried at Grenay in France, where more than 1,000 of the First World War fallen are commemorated.
