About Aaron J Adkins

Aaron J. Adkins, son of Elias and Susannah (Fry) Adkins, was raised at present-day Ferrellsburg in Lincoln County, WV. As a youth, Aaron lived on his parents' farm at the mouth of Fowler Branch (present-day Ferrellsburg). Elias and Susannah owned a small number of slaves. Later, Aaron bought the farm of his late uncle Isaac Adkins, which was located across the river from the mouth of Harts Creek (present-day Harts). During the War Between the States, he served in the 129th Regiment Virginia Militia (Logan County). A musket backfired in his face, rendering him partially blind.
