Notes for AARON LANDRETH: From "170 years of Landreths" Family of AAron Landreth and Julis Ann Young Aaron Landreth, first child of Benjamin Landreth and his wife, Hannah Morris, was born June l, 1841, while the family was still living in Lawrence County, Indiana. When just a small boy, he moved with his family to Clay County, Illinois, where he grew up on a farm in Larkingsburg Township. Here, at the age of ninteen, he joined the Union Army to fight in the Civil War, enrolling at Mason, Illinois. He served until March 20, 1866, when he was mustered out at Victoria, Texas. At that time, he had served two stints in the army, having re-enlisted as a veteran on March 16, 1864. Perhaps one reason Aaron remained in the army so long was that his marriage did not work out. He and Harriet were divorced. After the war, Aaron went west to Missouri, where he met Julia Ann Young. They were married December 6, 1867, in Benton County. They farmed in Missouri for a few years before returning to Illinois, where they then farmed near Edgewood. Aaron died March 27, 1923. Julia lived until April 14, 1930. Both are buried in the Edgewood Cemetery. From "A HISTORY OF EFFINGHAM COUNTY, ILLINOIS, PAST AND PRESENT" Aaron and Julia Landreth had settled in Effingham County, next to Clay County, after returning to Illinois from Missouri.
