About Aaron Victor Wardlow

Mr. Aaron V. Wardlow, 76, of 2933 Riverside Terrace, went to be with his lord at 7:58 a.m. Wednesday (October 5, 2005) in Blessing Hospital.

Born February 13, 1929 in Quincy, Aaron was the son of John and Hazel Darnell Wardlow. He married Shirley Ann Emerick November 22, 1947 in Quincy. She died April 11, 1988. He married Pat Hostetter Young on May 2, 1990 in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Wardlow was a member of St. Francis Church and also attended the First Christian Church. He was a member of the Gardner-Denver Quarter Century Club, Elks Lodge #100, and a former member of the North Side Boat Club, Eagles Club and the Moose. He enjoyed fishing, boating and especially loved to deer hunt. He was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished spending time with his family.

Aaron was employed at Gardner-Denver as a machinist for 41 years before retiring in 1991.

Also surviving are four daughters, Becky Alloway and her husband Steve of Beardstown, IL., Sue Lohmeyer, Kim Wardlow and Tracey Potter, all of Quincy; two sons, Jeff Wardlow of Bloomington, IL. and Tony Wardlow and his wife Paula of Camp Point; two step daughters, Shirley Kimble and her husband Harvey of Des Moines, IA. and Candi Freiburg and her husband John of Quincy; two step sons, Todd Young and his wife Mary and Greg Young and his wife Mary Beth, both of Quincy; fourteen grandchildren, Shannon Thurman of Wichita, KS., Andy Alloway and Amanda Baer and her husband Shane, both of Beardstown, IL., Jayson Lohmeyer and Jeremy both of Quincy, Clinton Wardlow of Skokie, IL., Jennifer Potter Mitchell and her husband Jake of McHenry, IL, Amy and Sam Potter and Danyel and Adam Wardlow, all of Quincy, Cole and Kennedy Wardlow, both of Bloomington, IL., and Jessica Wardlow of Palmyra, MO.; seven great grandchildren, Brooke, Clayton, Shelby Thurman, Dylan Baer and Braxton Baer, all of Beardstown, IL., Enrique Medina of Wichita, KS. and Braden Potter Schlueter of Quincy; ten step grandsons; four step great grandchildren; one brother, John Wardlow Jr. and his wife Freida of Fowler; two sisters, Dessie Patrick and Lillian Saylor, both of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley; and two sisters, Edith Mae York and Tudi Hutchinson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the First Christian Church by Rev. Joby Brown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Saturday afternoon at the church from 12:30 until the time of services.

Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Blessing Hospice.
