"In the fall of 1818 he moved to Shelby County, Kentucky, and from there to Sangamon County, Illinois, arriving in what is now known as Williams Township in the fall of 1831. He settled upon a farm near Mechanicsburg, Illinois, and engaged in general agricultural pursuits until his later days when he established his home in the village of Mechanicsburg and lived there until his death on January 31, 1862. His wife had died on April 9, 1861 in Mechanicsburg, Sangamon County, Illinois."
