Biography

Abigail Hoover Fields was born in 1760 in North Carolina, United States. Her parents were Stephen E. Creech and Eleanor Creech.

Abigail married Davis Stephen Fields, Jr.. Together they had the following children: Martha 'Mahala' Sizemore; Sabra Fields (Fields); Abner Fields; Lawson Fields; William "Billy" Fields; Jerry Fields; Jencie Fields; Obediah Fields; Effie (Richardson) Fields; Lansford Fields.

She died in North Carolina Carolina in 1790 or in Kentucky In 1813.

Davis Fields (married Abigail Creech) came to KY in the year 1790 or about. They had the following children: Obie, Abner, Jerry, Billy, Effie, Martha(Patty), Matilda, Sabra (this may be a daughter-in-law Sabra Underwood who married Lawson Fields--they had Selana who married Patsy Mary Hatfield).

North Carolina had a law to punish wayward girls by stoning them to death. Martha went wrong and to save her from the law, Davis moved to KY taking all of the children except Obie, who was married and lived at Bay Mountain,NC. Davis located on Poorfork of the Cumberland River just above the Oven Fork Church. Soon after he became a charter member of that church. Abigail Fields was not included in the list of members of the Oven Fork Church in 1823, because she had died by then. Her husband Davis Fields was then remarried to Effa Davis. Effa was listed as a member of the Oven Fork Church (as "Effie") in 1823, along with Jennie Fields, and William Fields. Davis Fields was listed on the 1820 membership roster. The 1830 census shows Davis Fields in Harlan Co., KY, aged 60-69 years, with his wife Effa who was also aged 60-69.

Reason This Information Is Correct:

Davis Fields was married twice. Abigail Creech was his first wife. She died around 1790, and he got remarried to Effa Davis around 1790. He adopted Effa's little son, Asa, who was half-Cherokee, and raised him as his own, and gave him his last name of Fields. Asa Fields later married Rachel Sergent.
