About Abigail Harding
Previously married to Willliam Reynolds Barnett (1792, Boston, Massachusetts) but divorced.
Died -
At Natchez (Mississippi) after a short but severe illness, Mrs. Abigail Harding, consort of Lyman Harding, Esq. of that city. In the death of this lady, her husband has suffered an irreparable loss, and society is bereft of one of its brightest ornaments: to nature she was much indebted for the elegance of her person, but more for the goodness of her heart. Her truly pious and Christian resignation under the most acute sufferings, which from the first moment of her indisposition, she thought would prove fatal, will be long held in sorrowful remembrance by those friends who witnessed them.
Fair was the flower and soft the vernal sky, Elate with hope we deem'd no tempest nigh, When lo! a whirlwind's instantaneous gust, Laid all its beauties withering in the dust.
