

Abraham Moses Rafalovich was a famous Odessa banker. He also dealt with wheat trade. Abraham with family moved to Odessa from Mogilev approximately in 1817. In 1833 he has established a bank “Rafalovich and Company”. Abraham Rafalovich has converted to Christianity in 1857 and soon after has become a honorable Russian Citizen (by Supreme Decree on 24 May 1857).
Largest Banking Houses which played a large role in the economic development of Russia, were created in 1830-40 years. in Odessa.
