Abraham J Schoon

In June 1900 Abraham (20 y, born in January 1880 in Indiana), his father Jacob Schoon (75, February 1825, Netherlands, immigrated in 1865, farmer), his mother Henrietta (59, February 1841, Netherlands, immigrated in 1865, mother of 1 deceased and 11 living children), his siblings Delia (23, October 1877, Indiana), Dick (19, February 1881, Indiana) and Henry (15, May 1885, Indiana) were living at an own farm in Calumet Township, Lake County, in the utter northwestern part of Indiana. Right next to them uncle Simon Schoon (October 1869, Indiana, farmer) was living at a rented farm with his wife Lena (September 1873, Netherlands) and their children Hattie (3), Mary (1) and Jacob (4 months), all born in Indiana.

Abraham J Schoon married on 27 January 1902 in Lake County, Indiana to the two years older Minnie Walthurs [Wolthuis], who had Dutch parents too.

They had in Lake County, Indiana the following children:

• Milton W, b. 25 February 1922. In December 2013 still alive.

In 1910 Aberham Schoon (30 y, born in Indiana), his wife Minnie (32, Holland, immigrated in 1895), their children Jacob (7, Indiana), Jessie (6, Indiana), Peter (3, Indiana), John (2, Indiana) were living in Calumet Township, Lake County, Indiana.

On 12 September 1918 the 38 years aged farmer Abraham Jacob Schoon was residing with his wife Minnie [and their children] at Route B, Gary, Lake County, Indiana, when he was administrated on a World War I Draft Registration Registration Card. He was tall, medium build, had blue eyes and dark brown hair.

In 1920 Abraham Schoon (40), his wife Minnie (42, immigrated in 1895), their children Jacob (17), Jessie (15), Peter (13), John (12), Richard (8, Indiana), Henrietta (6, Indiana) and Margaret (3, Indiana) were still living in Calumet Township, Lake County, Indiana.

In 1930 Abrahan Schoon (50), his wife Minnie (52, immigrated in 1896), their children Jacob (27), Jesse (26), Peter (24), John (21), Richard (18), Henrietta (16), Margaret (13) and Milton (8, Indiana) were still living in Calumet Township, Lake County, Indiana.

In June 1940 Abraham Schoon (60, bus driver for public school), his wife Minnie (62), their daughter Henrietta (26, teacher for a public school) and son Milton (18) were living at an own home, worth $3500, in still Calumet Township, Lake County, Indiana. They lived in 1935 at the same home.

In 1942 the 62 years aged Aberham J Schoon was living at 5205 W Ridge Road, mailing address Gary, Calumet Township, Lake County, Indiana and was emloyed by Calumet Township Schools, when he was administrated on a World War II Draft Registration Card. He signed the card in a laborious way with "Abaham J Schoon".

His wife Minnie died in August 1953 at the age of 75 years, very probably in Calumet Township, Lake County, Indiana. Widower Abraham Schoon died there very likely too, in June 1960 at the age of 80 years.
