About Abraham Slatis

Abraham Slatis was born 7 Sep 1887 in Zhytomyr, Russia (now Ukraine). He arrived in the United States in New York on 5 June 1911 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil aboard the SS Voltaire. The ship left Rio de Janeiro on 16 May 1911, so the voyage took about 20 days.

On Dec 6, 1917, Abraham Slatis enlisted in the US Army during World War I. He served overseas in Company G, 306th Infantry from Apr 15, 1918 until Apr 25, 1919 with the rank of Musician in the American Expeditionary Forces (A.E.F.). He was honorably discharged on May 9, 1919.

Abraham Cohn resided in Brooklyn and worked as a jeweler. On 15 Feb 1920 he married Jessie Cohn in Chicago.

By 1940, Abraham Cohn and his wife had moved to Chicago, and was working at Metal+Plastic Research as a chemical researcher.
