c. 1809 - His father moves the family from Madison Co., Va., to Monroe Co., Va. (now West Virginia)

1810...1837 - Absalom is taxed in Monroe Co., Va. He is exempted from payment in the years after 1826.[8] He was too young to be exempted because of his age. Perhaps it was for an inability to pay?

1 Sep 1814 - Absalom marries Lucy Riner with Ephraim Broyles as security. Monroe Co., Va. [9] Lucy was the sister of the wives of Absalom's brothers Zachariah and Jacob.

Jul 1815 - Absalom was security for the marriage of his brother Daniel.[10]

11 Oct 1823 - He is named in his father's will and inherits $2.[11]

4 Sep 1857 - "A. Broyles, husband" reports the death of his wife Lucy.[12] 1860 - Absalom is living with his son William and family.

1870 - He is again living with his son William and family.
