About Ada Gertrude Bryan
GEDCOM Note
Next Steps: Obtain Death Certificate. Clean up the life story. No other steps.
Name 'Aunt Ada' was known to her nephew Norman Bryan, and also visited on at least one occasion by he grand-nephewsTony, David and Richard Bryan on a day trip with John Norman Bryan, her brother. SImilarly it is known to the family members that she married Walter Liney.
DOB There is an interesting discrepency between the DOB on the birth certificate (definitely the right one) and that listed on the Death Index. This is likely to be a relative being unsure of Ada's exact DOB, rather than there being a second Ada Gertrude Liney who died in the same year as our Ada, with a DOB very simialr. The DOB from the birth certificate is taken as preferred.
Marriage No reference can be found to the wedding of Ada and Walter. Stories of records being lost in the Second World War are rife and may explain this, unless Ada Gertrude Liney is not Ada Gertrude Bryan, but this seems unlikely. Update - a record in 1935 for Ads Bryan, obviously a mistype, has been found for a marriage to 'Liney'. This has been added. Update - the marriage record has been found, and ties lots of things neatly. We see father James and broth James junior. We also see the residence as 12 back 22 Lawley Street which is the same residence in which John Norman Bryan (youngest brother) was born. Fun fact - Ada got marreid on her birthday, which is kinda sweet.
Residence I have assumed Ada live at 12 back 22 Lawley street at least from the time her younger brother John Norman was born. Electoral Rolls 1930 - Ada G Bryan Elder, and Younger, both living at 12 back 4 Lawley Street. This is the same housing that traces back to John Norman Bryan's birth, and provides decent continuity. Also the year Ada would have been 21, so should be the start of the Electoral records. 1935 - Ada & Walter Liney, at 15 Great Brook Street. 1939 - Ada & Walter Liney living at 80 Arden Road. This is the next house to that on the death certificate for father James Bryan, 82 Arden Road. This is a good match.
