Ada Mae Nelson, 86, Monticello, passed away at her residence on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013. Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 27, 10-11 a.m., at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 413 East 3rd Street, Monticello. The funeral service followed at 11 a.m., at the church. The Rev. Darren Green officiated. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Ada Mae was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Chatham Township, near Buffalo, to Ralph and Mayme (Yonak) Middagh. She attended school in the Buffalo School District. She was married to Joseph David Nelson of Santiago, Minn. on Jan. 28, 1950, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Monticello. They lived their entire married life in the Monticello area. She was a confirmed and longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Monticello. Ada worked for Donaldson’s Department Store of Minneapolis, Boyd and Lauring Drug Stores in Monticello, and Wonderall’s Clothing in Buffalo as a seamstress. After her marriage, she became a full-time housewife and mother. Her husband worked at Land-O-Lakes and Ken-Lee Plumbing and Heating of Monticello. After attending Dunwoody Industrial Institute, Joe worked for Johnson Service and the University of Minnesota installing and servicing temperature controls for the pipefitting industry.

Ada was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister Orabelle LePage and husband Maurice; brother Owen Middagh. Ada’s family would like to thank St. Benedict’s Senior Community Center of Monticello for their love and care over the past twelve years. Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
