Springfield, Oct. 22--Addison J. Lincoln, who died yesterday, was born in Athol March 30, 1824 and was one of 10 sons of Amasa and Zilpha Lincoln. At an early age he began his mercantile life as a clerk in one of the stores in this city. Later he moved to Templeton, where he was associated in business with the late Col. Artemus Lee.
In 1855, he went to Northampton, where for over 35 years he was engaged in the dry goods business. He was one of the trustees of the Northampton Institution for Savings for many years, but never sought or held public office.
