About Addison Parker Smith

Fought in the Civil War, Union Army, Company C 2nd Mass.

When he came home from the Civil War he found his little brother had lost his arm in a mill accident. He gave him two Confederate belt buckles hoping to brighten his sad situation. His half brother Nathaniel E. Smith kept these two buckles until 1910 when he gave them to my father Raymond H. Ashworth, his grandson who was having a rough time it, having lost his mother in 1908. My father had these buckles in his dresser draw until he passed away.

I now have them. Had belts made to fit them and wear them every so often. Interesting that one has my initials WA which stands for "Washington Artillery"

Walter G. Ashworth, Addison Parker Smith is my second Great Uncle.
