Obituary -- Addison Swaim was born April 27th, 1819, in Randolph county, North Carolina, and departed this life August 30th, aged 76 years, 4 months and 2 days. He was married to Elizabeth Turner, of Gulford county, North Carolina, November 28, 1844. To this union were born twelve children, five of whom preceded him to the grave, leaving the mother and seven children to mourn their loss. He united with the Wesleyan church twenty-one years ago, and lived a faithful member until death, and died in the triumphs of living faith. Funeral services were held at the Friends church at Milo. Sermon by Rev. Williams and interment was in the Good Jones Cemetery.

The Warren Republican, Thursday, September 5, 1895 Milo News Addison Swaim, and old resident, died Friday morning at the home of his son, Charles, about one mile west of this place. He bore his pain very patiently, and died with the hope of going to heaven.
Mrs. Cynthia Dillon, of Pulaski county, and Mrs. Mary Kimfro, of Kansas, arrived last week to attend the funeral of their father, Addison Swaim.
Addison is buried here according to "Cemetery Inscriptions, Indiana, Early 1800's to mid-1900's, written by Marc Young, Albion, Michigan. No Copyright found.

Emigration Abt 1858 Some 50,000 North Carolinians left the state and moved to Ohio or Indiana in protest to slavery during the thirty years before the Civil War is not widely known. As the frustration with more restrictive and harsh laws over slaves and slave-owning were passed, some Quakers, like Levi Coffin, began to illegally assist escaping slaves to flee the state.
