Brief overview:

Adele (44), a mother of five, and businesswoman, was shot dead at a fuel station in Gateway near the Old Johannesburg Road, when an armed robbery was in progress, on the night of Sunday 30th November 2013.

Adele's sister, Drienie Erasmus, said that she and her friend stopped at the ATM at the fuel station near Stones while criminals were robbing the business. As Adele climbed back into the passenger’s side, one of the robbers exited the shop, opened her door and tried to grab her belongings. A second armed male walked to the front of the vehicle and shot at the women.

On arrival at a clinic, Adele was declared dead. According to Drienie Erasmus, the medical report stated that she had died as a result of internal bleeding. She had been shot in the liver.

Pierre Viviers, chairperson of the Sector 2 Wierdabrug Community Policing Forum said that camera footage showed three suspects entering the store and one was in possession of a firearm. He believes it could have been a revolver.
