Notes for Vida Janet NEWTON: Vida married a man 18 years her senior with the written consent of her mother at the registry office in Perth when she was just 17 years old. She had no children. She ran away from her hubby with the man who taught her to drive. Later the man's wife committed suicide by drinking poison and he left Vida. Vida's cousin William Boase read the story of the suicide and copied the lady by drinking poison also. Vida had two defacto husbands Fred and Jim Paul
