About Adolph Matthew Hutter, Sr.

Reporter. Mon. June 23, 1985, p. 20:3. Dr. Adolph M. Hutter Sr., 79, of 34 Golf Course Rd., Madison, died Wed. June 19, 1985, at Rock County Health Care Center, Janesville. He was born Nov. 26, 1905, in Fond du Lac. He married Janet Kay on Sept. 22, 1932, in Fond du Lac. He was a 1923 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. He received a bachelor of arts degree from UW-Madison in 1927 and a medical degree from UW-Madison in 1930. He served his internship at Research Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., in 1930 and 1931, and his residency in internal medicine at University Hospitals, Madison from 1931 to 1933. He engaged in active practice of internal medicine and cardiology at St. Agnes Hospital from 1933 until his retirement in 1979. He was chief of the St. Agnes Department of Medicine in 1947, chief of staff in 1948, chief of executive committee in 1953, and a member of the joint conference committee in 1954. He also served as president of the Fond du Lac County Medical Society. He was a past president of the Wisconsin Heart Association and chairman of the Wisconsin State Medical society Committee on Aging from 1957-64. He was a member of numerous medical organizations and a recipient of several special medical awards. He served in World War II as a commander in the U.S. Navy at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., where he was in charge of penicillin research, the U.S. Fleet Hospital and the U.S. Receiving Hospital, San Francisco, and the U.S. Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, Ill. He received several special recognition awards for his service. Survivors include his wife; one son of Needham, Mass.; one daughter of Janesville (names omitted for privacy); and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sat. June 22, 1985. Entombment was in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum, Janesville. The Schneider Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Wisconsin Heart Association.
