Agnes Gordon, here treated, was the wife of Robert Gordon in Duddingston and the mother of Robert Gordon A record of her marriage has not been found but her son was born before 9 November 1662, the date upon which his baptism was registered at Duddingston in Midlothian, Scotland. His baptismal record reads as follows: "Sunday 9 Nr. 1662 The said day Rot Gordoun and Agnes Gordoun his spoues had ane infant bap: named Rot Witnesss Alexr: Johnstoune . . . . . & William Brown workman."
