Family 1 : Patrick M'KIE Baiie in Minnigaff MARRIAGE: ABT 1607, , Kirkcudbright, Scotland
Book of Mackay p 356 says Patrick succeeded his uncle Sir Patrick in 1645.
History of the Lands and Their Owners in Galloway states that Sir Patrick was succeeded by Patrick M'Kie. The degree of relationship is not mentioned. On Jan 22, 1664, he had sasine of the lands and barony of Larg. He is described as the son of Patrick M'Kie of Barjarrock. (This was probably his son, Patrick.)
Kirkcudbright Obligation #100 (10 Jun 1664) "by Patrick McKie of Larg to William Pringle in Challoch for L60 Scots payable at Martinmas next 1661, with L18 of penalty and the ordinary annualrent. At Monygoff 13 March 1661; witnesses John McCaw, son to Thomas McCaw in Monygoff, William Hunter, notary, and Arthur McCaw there."
Book of Mackay p 357 states "a son [of Alexander and his wife Katherine Agnew] who had three sons (Alexr.; Patrick, who succeeded to Larg, 1646; and James of Crosbie, who had a son Robert, whose son John in 1691 succeeded to Larg and Palgown)." This is probably in error, since the Inquisition lists James of Crosbie's father as Patrick, Baillie of Minnigaff. Editors have accepted the Inquisition.
