When Alan Louis Gordon completed his U.S. World War II Draft Card on July 24, 1944, he was 18 years old and was described as being 5'-6" tall, weighed 208 pounds, had hazel eyes, brown hair and a ruddy complexion. He was living in De Soto, Kansas, but was born in Lawrence, Kansas, on July 24, 1926. Four years earlier in 1940, Alan was listed in the census with his parents and siblings as follows: Herbert, 37, Fay, 30, Alan, 13, Ralph, 12, Gerald, 7, Laura Jean, 4, and also living with them was Herbert Harmon, 23, Laura Fay (Harmon) Gordon's brother. Alan's father, Herbert, was working as a farmer, and his brother-in-law as a farm laborer.
At some point Alan married Corrine E. Midgett or Midyett and in 1962 they were living at 104 Lincoln Avenue in San Rafael, California, and Alan was working as a bookkeeper for Jones Stevedoring. In 1965 he was still working at the same place and living with Corrine at 257 Humboldt Street, but they were divorced June 22, 1976, in Lane County, Oregon, although a California Divorce Index showed they were divorced in June of 1973 in Marin County, California. Alan passed away at the age of 79 on March 25, 2005, in Eugene, Oregon.
