Alan enlisted in the RAAF 1939; Pilot Officer No. 410371. His plane, an Avro Anson, went down in the sea off the coast of Victoria in 1943, but he survived to become a licensed victualler in partnership with Peggy.
Avro Anson W2261 of 67 Squadron RAAF crashed into the sea off Victoria on 21 June 1943. The crew was P/O Alan Edgar Packer (410371), F/Sgt Garnet Charles Cooper (408202), and Sgt B F Duffy. He married Peggy in 1940. See docs.
