About Alan Thicke

Alan Thicke was a Canadian actor, songwriter, and game and talk show host. He is best known for his role as Jason Seaver, the father on the ABC television series Growing Pains. He was also the author of two books on parenting.

In 2013, Thicke was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame. He had been nominated for an acting Golden Globe in 1988 and a producing Daytime Emmy in 1998.

Thicke, who adopted his stepfather's surname, was of Scottish, Irish, and English heritage. He was the father of singer Robin Thicke and father-in-law of actor Paula Patton.
