Chris Sprangers, Tamara Glacken, Lynette Dunn (grand daughters) Author: Chris Sprangers Albert Otto Bartz was one of 13 children born to Adolph and Etta Bartz. He attended school at Bartlett, Texas in the first grade, also going to San Gabriel, Robstown, Bishop and part time at Grand Prairie, Texas through the 4th grade.The roads were so muddy so sometimes didn't go, as he walked to school. He finally quit and worked at the farm full time. His parents moved to South Texas, then he and brother Bill farmed it in 1923. While on the farm he met Addie Simmons. Her family moved to the farm next to the Bartz farm. In Thrall Texas they dated for 2 1/2 years going to parties and dances all around Thrall and Taylor. Later Addie and her family moved to Lefors, and in 1926 Albert moved to nearby Pampa, getting a job in the oil fields. Albert and Addie were married that same year, Dec 29 1926 in Lefors. They moved to Pampa, while Albert continued to work for Gulf Oil Co. They had two children. Later they moved to California to continue to work for the oil company. During the war they both worked in the navel shipyards painting and repair work, as well as odd jobs. They separated and divorced. After the war, Albert bought and remodeled homes and sold them, later to work in Oregon on the Pacific Pipeline. Albert did remarry in 1953, but the marriage lasted for only one year. Albert and his son Roy worked together for years doing construction. He retired in 1964, lived in a trailer home doing light work for his daughter Connie's husband's company. He also lived with the family in Orange for awhile. In 1971 he became ill with cancer and passed away Oct 10th the same year. He was buried in Forest Lawn, Cyress, California
