About Albert Victor Boxshall
Bert enlisted for service in WW1 on July 7th 1915. He was 29 years and 7 months old. It is noted on his enlistment papers that he had been for 12 months, a member of the Tramways Rifle Corps. His wife was noted as his next of kin. He embarked for overseas service on the 5/02/16 to the 57th Battalion. 23/02/16 Bert was admitted to hospital after receiving a camel bite. This was from Hog's Back (the hog's back in Asmailia, Egypt I assume- as there is another such place in France. Name has more to do with a geographical site than an actual place) Bert later went to France where he was wounded and suffered shell shock. He was promoted to Lance Corporal and later had a temporary promotion to Corporal. He returned to Australia,May 8th 1919. 22/09/19 he was transferred to the Postal Corps. Taken from Discovering Anzacs website.
