About Albert Howell

Albert Howell, a son of Evan Park Howell and the former Julia Adelaide Erwin, was born in Atlanta, Georgia on the 5th of January 1866. His father would become editor-in-chief of The Atlanta Constitution, a Pulitzer Prize newspaper.

Albert Howell was a graduate of Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia; where he won the Orator's medal. In 1888, graduated Law School at the University of Georgia in Athens.

On February 21st 1889, Albert Howell was married to Miss Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" Martin; daughter of Robert and Annie Eliza [n%C3%A9e Erwin] Martin in Augusta, Georgia. They made their home in Atlanta; where Albert was prominent member of the Atlanta bar. Albert and Bessie Howell had the following known adopted daughters:

In August 1917, Albert Howell served as Aide-de-Camp for Governor Chandler for two years.

Albert Howell was a senior partner in the Atlanta law firm Howell, Heyman and Bolding. For many years he was general counsel for the Southern Railway Company for Georgia.
