About Albert Boyer Lawver

The Gettysburg Times June 26, 1956

Albert B. Lawver, 60, R.3, died suddenly at his home Monday evening at 10:10. He had been in his usual health and had been working in his yard following his return from Hanover when he suffered a heart attack at 8:45. A physician was summoned but he died from a second attack a little over an hour later. The deceased was born in Franklin township, a son of the late George Washington and Margaret Elizabeth (Boyer) Lawver, and lived all of his life in Adams County. During his younger days he was a farmer. He helped build the Caledonia golf course and was its greens keeper for about 19 years. For some time he worked with the State Forestry Dept. In 1944 he became a custodian at Gettysburg College where he was employed at the time of his death. He was a member of the Cashtown Evangelical Reformed Church and the Cashtown Fire Co. Surviving are his widow, the former Vergie E. Weikert, to whom he was married 40 years; one son, John A., Biglerville, and two grandchildren. Funeral services Thursday at 2:00 at the Bender Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Mark B. Michael and the Rev. E. Mahlon Clarke. Interment in Flohr’s Cemetery, McKnightstown.
