PERRY, ALBERT G. (1807–1874). Albert G. Perry, judge, was born at Knoxville, Tennessee, on July 3, 1807, the youngest of twelve children of Sion and Bartheny Perry. After attending school in Knoxville, he went to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to study law with an older brother. Perry moved to Washington County, Texas, in November 1831 and set up a law practice. He married Harriet Eliza Grimes, daughter of Jesse Grimes, on January 8, 1832; they had six children.

In 1835 Perry served as first lieutenant with troops at the falls of the Brazos to defend settlers against Indian raids; the same year he represented Viesca (Milam County) in the Consultation and on the General Council. He was secretary of Stephen F. Austin's colony in 1836.

Perry lived in Grimes County from 1843 until 1852, when he moved to Falls County, where he served as county judge. A. J. Hamilton appointed him district judge in March 1866, but Perry did not seek reelection in June of that year. He was later elected county judge and served in that capacity for several years.

He died at home in Falls County on March 22, 1874. Perry community in Falls county is named for him.
