PRATT, ALBERT
Of Key Largo, FL and Osterville, MA died at home after a long illness on May 16, 2003. Mr. Pratt was born May 23, 1911 in W. Newton, MA. He graduated from The Country Day School; Harvard University, 1933; Harvard Law School, 1936.
He was a General Partner of Paine Webber; and later, President of Paine Webber Properties.
Mr. Pratt was a trustee of the Beaver Country Day School and the Dexter School; Chairman of the Brookline Community Fund; Visiting Member of The Board of Overseers of Harvard University; President of the Associated Harvard Clubs; Director of the Harvard Alumni Fund; President of the Investment Bankers Association; President of the Boston Chamber of Commerce; and served on the Board of the Deaconess Hospital.
Mr. Pratt served in the Navy during World War II as a Lt. Commander. He was awarded the Navy Legion of Merit. He also served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy under Eisenhower and received the Distinguished Civilian Service Medal.
He was a member of the Cruising Club of America; the New York Yacht Club; and Key Largo Anglers Club.
In 1933 he sailed from Marblehead to Cowes with the Morss family aboard "Genadier". He returned on "Dorade", a record-setting passage.
His first wife, Alice M. Lee Pratt, died January 1, 1976.
He is survived by his widow, Fanny Gray Little Pratt; his five children, Alice "Lallie" M. L. Pratt of Shelburne Falls, MA; Cornelia "Leela" S. Pratt of San Francisco; Nina L. Pratt of Narragansett, RI; Frederick Halfdan "Dan" Pratt of Hadley, MA; Kate P. Lapping of Ashfield, MA; his twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will also be remembered by his four stepchildren: Catherine A. Peltier of Arlington, VA; Henry Morgan of Cold Spring Harbor, NY; Polly M. Timken of Old Saybrook, CT; Joan Morgan of Washington, DC.
Memorial service Thursday, May 29, 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Wianno Avenue, Osterville, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT; St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Osterville, MA; Medical Center at Ocean Reef, Key Largo, FL.
