About Albert Prince Thompson
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 at South Thompson Baptist Church for Albert P. Thompson, prominent lumberman. Rev. G.A. Wall, pastor of the church officiated and burial was in the church cemetery with Murchison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson died at the family residence on Jackson Street, Friday after a five-day illness from a stroke which he suffered on his 70th birthday. He was the son of the late Berry C. Thompson and Mrs. Mary McKay Thompson. He and his parents before him, have lived in that section of Tattnall County that was incorporated into Toombs County in 1905. He was a lumberman and farmer from the time he started to work until a few months ago when he became ill with an attack of influenza from which he had not regained his strength. He had a large family connection in Toombs, Tattnall, Emanuel, and Montgomery Counties.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lula Galbreath Thompson of Vidalia; four daughters, Mrs. H.D. Gillis of Lyons, Mrs. Eddie Odom of Soperton, Mrs. Arva L. Wilkes, of San Bernardino, Cal., and Cpl. Elise Thompson, (WAC) United States Army, stationed at Indiantown Gap, Pa.; and three sons, Prince and Dan of Vidalia R.F.D., and Cpl. Arthur Thompson, United States Army, now stationed in England. Mrs. M.E. King of Vidalia and Mrs. W.J. Jordan of Reidsville are sisters, and F.B. Thompson of Oak Park, C.M. Thompson of Reidsville and H.P. Thompson of Lyons are brothers.
Pallbearers included: B.C. Stephens, Hill Stephens, Mark and Collis Thompson and Abbie and Herbert Thompson, all nephews and all of this section of the county.
