The following is from a postal card she sent her new sister-in-law, Sallie Smith Rudd. The postal card is postmarked Olustee, Oklahoma, October 25, 1912.
"Dear Bro and new sister. Rec Jim's letter telling us of the news of a sister. Certenly wish I could see you all. May the coming years be all happiness to you all. And God's richest blessings be with thee all ways. Anxiously waiting to see you all.
Your loving sis.
Effie Rudd"
The card is addressed to: Mr & Mrs C. M. Rudd, Armuchee, Ga.
The following quote is provided by Leona Neal Rudd Skinner, her daughter-in-law. "I remembered vividly; Albert's mother telling of the year or two, that they had lived with Uncle Oll Rudd - at Olustee, Ok. She said that when it did rain, they caught what water they could in cisterns and barrels. But then - Uncle Oll put a spoonful of kerosene in every container - to keep down mosquitos. In Ga, she had been used to plenty of clean fresh water and said "The most water I saw out there - was my own tears".
