About Alene Barbara Foley
Alene "Toots" Barbara Foley, 90, of Red Wing, died Thursday, Dec. 13, at Fairview Southdale Hospital.
She was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Diamond Bluff, Wis., to George and Annie (Benson) Truttmann. She was a 1940 graduate of Prescott High School. Following high school, she worked for a time at Durkee Atwood in Red Wing. On June 14, 1945, she married Robert Foley at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth. Because of Robert's military career, the family moved and lived in many parts of the United States and also overseas, having spent 3 years in Japan. After his retirement in 1968, they moved to rural Ellsworth where they farmed until 1974 when they moved to Hager City and then to Red Wing in 1988. She moved to Bloomington in February 2012 to be near her family.
Alene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Wing. A fond memory of her childhood included going to her grandfather's farm where she enjoyed riding the ponies and horses and helping on the farm. In her older years, she loved playing bingo, going to the movies (especially comedies), and watching Polka Joe on TV. She and Robert took many trips to Branson, and they also enjoyed country music, and they were both avid Green Bay Packers fans.
She is survived by three children, David Foley and Monica (Rick Rocheford) Foley, both of Minneapolis, and Doug (Mary) Foley of St. Louis Park; grandchildren, Nicole, Natalie, and Christopher Foley; brother Richard (Marcille) Truttmann of Ellsworth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Foley; son Daniel Foley; sister, June Enges; and brother Jack Truttman.
Burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Ellsworth.
