About Alexander Alison

Alexander, a shipwright, arrived in New Zealand late 1830-1840. There is no record of the exact date or which Port he arrived at. His obituary reads that he arrived in Nelson approximately 1837. He married Jane Cameron of Fort William Scotland in 1845 in Wellington. They settled in Eden Cres, Official Bay, Auckland where their children were born. Later Alexander bought land on the Northshore, where he and Jane lived for the rest of their lives. The are buried in the old Victoria (Mt) Cemetery, next to the Presbyterian Church, Devonport.
