n the 1850 census next door neighbors are brother A.(Abraham) Boles 45, Ephraim 23, Jackson 21, Rebecca 17, William 13, Joseph 11, Rosina 9, Elizabeth 6, and Mary 5, all born in North Carolina.

Alexander Bowles is noted in the history of Marshall County Iowa to be one of the early settlers prior to 1850.

believe he settled there with John Perry (b: ABT 1810 in IN)  who was married to Hannah Kerold - John was the son of Ebenezer Perry. Alexander married Ebenezer's daughter we believe and was mentioned as her husband in Ebenezer's estate - Johnson Co, Indiana.

Alexander Bowles, aged 82 years, died last night at his home south of Green Mountain of la grippe and pneumonia. The funeral will be held at 10 o’clock tomorrow at the residence, with burial at the Dunkard cemetery. Deceased was one of the oldest residents of the county, having settled here in 1849.
