Alexander Bruce was the son of Thomas Bruce of Blairhall and Jean Henderson, He married Katherine Stewart, daughter of Robert Stewart of Irry. He died, without issue. Darryl Lundy's Peerage
23 May 1711 and 10 April 1713: Heritable bond of provision by Dame Anna Bruce, Lady Kinross, relict of Sir Thomas Hope of Craighall, now spouse of John Carstairs of Kilconquhar, with consent of Alexander Bruce, son of deceased Thomas Bruce of Blairhall, Mr. James Halket, doctor of medicine, and Sir Thomas Hope of Craighall, her son, to M Nationars Mary Carstairs, her youngest daughter. On the lands and barony of Kinross, lands and barony of Seggy, lands of the two Cullennoquhies, Maltoun, Clashdouchlie, Cullendraine, Easter and Wester Maw in the barony of Tilliboll, lands and barony of Couthelgourdie, lands of Tyrie and Lethangie, lands and barony of Bishopshyre and Kirkness, and lands of Kinneswood, Brucalay, Kennistoun, Balnathill, Wester Balgeddie and Miln of Powmiln. (With contract discharge by Dr Alexander Bayne of Rires, physician, son of deceased Mr. Alexander Bayne of Rires, advocate, and Mary Carstairs, his spouse, to Sir John Bruce of Kinross and Charles Bruce, his eldest son, dated 4 August 1749 and registered B of C and S 19 March 1750.
