About Alexander Duncan Goodall
He was born in Ormiston, near Tranent. He joined the British Army during World War 2. He was killed in action at Tobruk, Libya in 1941 while serving as a Serjeant with the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), 2nd Battalion. The "serjeant" spelling was common among units that draw heritage from the British light infantry. Service Number: 2754689. He is buried in Knightsbridge War Cemetery, Acroma, Libya (also memorialised at his grandparents' grave in Scotland).
