About Alexander Virtchworth Goodin
One of the earliest of the pioneer settlers of Saline Co., MO.
The Goodins were a highly respected and well educated family.
While teaching in Hardin Valley, Tenn in 1784 Alexander met and married Jane Ann Hardin. In 1817 Alexander an Jane came by flatboat from KY to Howard Co., MO, later moving to Boone County, and then to Saline Co.
This early pioneer couple brought with them not only their family of 11 children, but also numerous slaves.
He served as first constable of Jefferson Twp in Saline Co. in 1821.
Later her served a deputy sheriff of Saline Co.
