Alexander Mitchell "Alex" Lewis
- Birth: Aug. 18, 1870
- Death: Apr. 2, 1941
Alexander was the son of Elijah Lewis who married Mary Jane Smith March 26, 1863 and then Edith "Holland" Hamilton in 1867. Their children were
- 1. Alice Holland Lewis born in 1868; and died 4/2/1941,
- 3. Robert Martin Lewis born 2/26/1873 and died 9/24/1953, he married Sydney Mason on 1/1/1895 and then Minnie Lee Longest on 11/24/1901; and
- 4. Edward Lewis born 1875.
He is listed with his family on the 1880 census as a fisherman.
He married Mary Frances Lewis on July 9, 1894. Their children were
- 1. Robert Edward Lewis born 1/25/1896 and died 6/7/1973 and married Tempe Hunter on 6/12/1918, then Mahala Elizabeth Smith in 1935; and then Dera Mae Noe in 1964;
- 2. Charlie Sawyer Lewis born 3/26/1898 and died 3/9/1956, he married Abeta Willis and then Polly Barker;
- 3. Harriett Lewis born 1/16/1900 and died 10/6/1941;
- 4. Clifford Thomas Lewis born 9/21/1902 and died 4/7/1970 he married Valeria Blanche Whitley;
- 5. Joseph Franklin Lewis born 8/12/1904 and died 8/11/1977 and who married Emily Sue Gatlin and then Iris Earl Adams and then Sidney Styron;
- 6. Alexander Mitchell Lewis, Jr. born 7/14/1906 died 8/3/1981 and who married Leila Catherine Williams;
- 7. Clarence Maxwell Lewis born 9/27/1908 and married Bertie D. Lewis;
- 8. Marvin Rita Lewis born 6/25/1911 and died 6/10/1965 and married Esther Bonham Lawrence 4/4/1942;
