John William Mitchell, son of Alexander Mitchell said, "My own father's name was Alexander Mitchell and died when a very young man, being 36 years old. There were four children in our family, one dying in infancy, and sister Martha when she was 18 years old, leaving my sister Ina, now Mrs. George Gibbs, and myself. Our mother's name was Sarah King, who died at age 56 years. I find the Mitchell family did not enter into professional life to any extend but were either farmers or mechanics, thus earning their living by the sweat of the brow. I find also, that they were peace loving people and not given to strife, but always willing to lend a hand when in need." This quote was written on a document compiled on the occasion of a family reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Gibbs, July 1931.John William Mitchell died July 17, 1932. This document was in the possession of Marian Gibbs Wilhoite and Shirley Wilhoite and shared with Sandy Simcox.
