A Revolutionary War veteran. Brother of William Patterson?
A Revolutionary War veteran, previously unknown to our records. A list of soldiers from Mary O'Hara Darlington stated that Alexander was buried in the Sharpsburg Presbyterian Church graveyard, and later moved to Greenwood. The Sharpsburg graveyard was moved around 1880, with remains dispersed among other cemeteries. Removals to Greenwood were not always identified. Thanks to Mary Neff for relaying this information. Some of the transfers from this graveyard were buried in Section 1, Range 21, Lot 2, but others were interred in family plots. There is a John Galbraith Patterson who was also removed from the church graveyard, who was buried in Section 2, Range 13, Lot 1.
The photo shows the small, old stones transferred from the Sharpsburg Presbyterian graveyard to Greenwood in the back of Section 1. Until further research is done, it will be assumed that Alex is buried here with other church members.
