Alexander Peter

ALEXANDER PETER (OTHERWISE ALEX PETER)

is the son of Walter Peter, merchant in Glasgow. A baptismal record has not been found but it is supposed that he must be a son of Elizabeth Johns. He died before 24 August 1699, the date upon which he was buried at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland. His burial record reads as follows: "Alex Peter son to Walter Piter merchand" [Registrar General for Scotland, New Register House, Edinburgh, Glasgow Deaths, 1699-1723, reference OPR.644/45].

Death of his brother Thomas

Alexander Peter may have died on the same day as his brother Thomas, that is 24 August 1699, the date upon which Thomas's death is noted in Glasgow's baptismal register: "The baptism of this child was prevented by death" [Registrar General for Scotland, New Register House, Edinburgh, Glasgow Baptisms, 1699-1707, reference OPR.644/8].
